Farm 47
Today, Farm 47 runs around 50 head of cattle on almost 260 acres that are used for both pasture and hay production. Our cattle spend their lives roaming freely through the pastures grazing grass. We do, however, grain-finish the animals we have selected to be harvested for meat. This is a 90-120 day period prior to processing. Even during this time, those cattle remain on grass with free choice hay. Our cattle are never given any growth hormones or steroids and in the event an animal requires antibiotics for an illness it is removed from meat production.
The litter from our poultry houses is used as fertilizer on the pastures and hay fields. Through the utilization of this by-product, we feel the organic matter in the litter is better for the soil than commercial fertilizer and therefore better for our cattle.
In addition to raising cattle, we produce pasture- and forest-raised, non-GMO pork. Our Berkshire and Berkshire-Duroc pigs are raised without corn, soy, antibiotics, or steroids.
We're a farrow-to-finish farm. Every pig is born here and stays on the farm until processing day. This hands-on approach ensures our animals are cared for with the values we believe in, resulting in pork that's healthy, flavorful, and safe for your family and ours.
We love doing what we do here on the farm. We take pride in producing a product that we know where it comes from and what exactly goes into it.
